Katrina McDermott
With 16 years of experience, Katrina leads with passion, providing personalised care and fostering a loving, safe, and inclusive home-based environment where every child feels secure, valued, and a strong sense of belonging. Her practice is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and grounded in a strong understanding of early childhood development, supporting children’s emotional, social, physical, and cognitive growth through play-based learning and intentional teaching. Katrina thoughtfully plans experiences that reflect each child’s interests, strengths, and developmental needs, allowing children to learn at their own pace while building confidence, independence, and curiosity.
Strong, respectful relationships are at the heart of Katrina’s Family Daycare. Katrina works in partnership with families through open communication, trust, and collaboration, recognising families as children’s first teachers. Her warm, nurturing environment provides consistency, routine, and stability, supporting children’s wellbeing and helping them feel comfortable to explore, take positive risks, and form meaningful relationships. Through responsive care and meaningful everyday experiences, Katrina supports children in developing resilience, positive self-identity, social skills, and a love of learning, building strong foundations across all EYLF learning outcomes and preparing them for a smooth transition into future learning and life.
